Mokgosi-Mwantembe, Thoko Martha – Director
MSC – (Medicinal Chemistry, UK) BSc & diploma in teaching (Swaziland) Executive courses at Harvard (USA) & IMD (Switzerland)
Thoko is CEO and the founding member of Kutana Group, a black women-owned investment company. Thoko has worked in executive positions in global pharmaceutical and ICT companies including CEO of Alcatel SA and Hewlett Packard SA. She currently holds a number of non-executive board positions of some blue chip companies such as Old Mutual, Omnia, Royal Bafokeng Platinum (RBP) and Smollan. Thoko’s career spans from pharmaceuticals, information technology and business. She has held a number of senior executive positions at Telkom, was Marketing Director at Lucent Technologies, a Divisional Managing Director of Siemens Telecommunications, the CEO of Alcatel SA and CEO of Hewlett Packard SA. Thoko has received various awards such as South African Business Women of the year in 2007, IT businesswomen of the year and voted 2nd most influential women in Africa for IT, Media and Telecoms.
Claire Du Bourg – Investment Principal at Kutana Group
Claire Du Bourg’s focus is on driving acquisitions and investments for the Kutana Group within its defined industry sectors. Prior to this, Claire was a director in the corporate finance division at Grant Thornton Johannesburg where she headed up the transaction advisory function within the team until she co-founded Crest Capital in 2014.
Claire is passionate about achieving real economic transformation and empowerment for the people of South Africa and enjoys working with companies to help them achieve real value growth while making a meaningful contribution to the economic transformation of South African economy.
Claire is a CA (SA) and is a Stellenbosch University and The Wykeham Collegiate alumnus.
Karl Bauermeister - CEO
As the CEO of Finance Africa, Karl brings nearly 40 years of financial services experience to leading the team. Before Finance Africa, Karl quickly moved from general management to director and CEO levels at FirstRand Group and Standard Bank Vehicle and Asset Finance and sat on the boards of the companies that reported to him.
Karl has won various leadership awards namely the Global Pacific Institute in recognition of his contribution to the SA economy; the Club of Excellence award for his outstanding contribution to McCarthy Motors Holdings, and; the SITE Crystal Award for the Best Worldwide Strategic Incentive Program (2007; California) for his drive to increase sales volumes in the Motor Industry for Standard Bank SA.
He holds a Certificate & Diploma in Management from Hendley (London) and MBIA & MDP presented by WesBank.
Leon Kotze – COO
Leon Kotze brings a solid range of experience to his role as Chief Operating Officer at Finance Africa; he has extensive knowledge of ICT finance (since 2007) and motor vehicle finance (since 2013), with 11 years’ rental finance experience as a director in other finance companies with a primary focus on government finance.
Leon started his career as a town planner at Tshwane Municipality, where he worked since 2007. He then joined two asset based rental finance companies holding the positions as senior manager and director until 2012 when he joined Sizwe Asset Finance as COO.
Leon has a Higher Diploma (Town and Regional Planning) with Cape Town Technicon and holds a Diploma as an International Trade Advisor for Companies.
